Getting ready for the future of work

Municipality of Eindhoven

The municipality of Eindhoven is preparing their IT infrastructure for the future of work. They had already invested in hardware to support the transition, but what they really needed was a hybrid IT set-up with Microsoft 365 to maximize the use of this hardware while limiting the license costs for their users. In cooperation with partners IT Value and UBM Global, Liquit met these demands with a combination of Liquit Workspace and Liquit Release & Patch Management and is now used as their new workspace management solution.

Municipality of Eindhoven

Eindhoven is one of the five biggest municipalities in the Netherlands, with approximately 231,000 inhabitants living on 89km2. The municipality is the ‘brainport’ of the Netherlands, hosting many leading technology companies. Approximately one third of all Dutch R&D-financing goes to Eindhoven. A municipality with such great focus on the technology of the future should clearly have a plan in place for the future of work.

A personalised experience

Eindhoven needed to implement an environment that would enable all users to work wherever they prefer, on whatever device they preferThey focussed on flexibility of the solution in their search for the optimal solution and provideras well as an amazing user experience and high-level security. As there was already a solution in place that had involved significant investment in hardware, the new solution should be able to be implemented with that hardware and should also reduce licensing costs.

The new solution consists of a combination of Windows 10 and Office 365 integrated with Liquit. Users get the ultimate user experience without having to get used to a new portal thanks to Liquit’s smart icons: the new solution fully integrates with the existing portal they are already familiar with. All users will be equipped with a new laptop set up with Microsoft Autopilot and Intune and configured with Liquit Workspace.

Getting started

100 users initially started testing the new solution. Eventually 2,500 users will be working in their new environment. New users do not have to worry about any technical actions: the process of deploying, updating and launching new applications is fully automated in a way that does not interfere with their workLiquit Workspace provides a clear, recognizable look and feel for users through icons and option menus on each device. The introduction of Liquit Release & Patch Management helps the IT team to configure, use and patch the applications, which saves a considerable amount of time.

Pierre van den Heuvel, Program Manager IT at the municipality of Eindhoven, is confident the new solution is futureproof. “Liquit is a very innovative partner. Not only do they offer an incredibly flexible solution, but also keep their eyes on the horizon. They actively look for other interesting parties to integrate with. This means that whenever I want to extend our IT landscape with a new solution, I do not have to wait for Liquit to be able to connect to it. Most of the time, they already have an integration in place when I have only just started considering a new integration. Liquit have given us exactly what we were looking for and helped getting our municipality ready for the future of work.
